Kookie Clubhouse Kingdom: The Gift - Composer, Co-lyricist, and Musical Director
Hailing from Los Angeles, Laurie Grant was a student of Music and Music Business at UCLA,and a graduate of The Grove School of Music with a degree in Jazz and Theory. Laurie has written music for children with her very popular group, Laurie and Joyce, and then teamed up with Mike Hennessey to write the music for The Gift, A Musical, Presented by The Kookie Clubhouse Kingdom.
Laurie has co-written, produced, and licensed works for a multitude of indie artists and for music placement in film and television. These include: songs for Nina Repeta, Dawson Creek; CBS's Cold Case and Ghost Whisperer; NBC's Law & Order and My Name is Earl; and ABC's In Case of Emergency. Other projects include: music for the trailer for the Reese Witherspoon film, Just Like Heaven; A & E's Biography: Abby Hoffman and Biography: Richard Branson; Canadian TV's The Eleventh Hour; and music for the indie film, The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry.
Laurie is the co-founder and former CEO of LPJ Entertainment LLC, and former Director of Music Marketing and Licensing for Performing Arts Studio West (PASW), as well the Music Educator at PASW, where she worked with adults with Autism and other disabilities.
Since 2014, Laurie has been the Musical Director for Rex and Friends, a non-profit that works with autistic and blind musical talent, now joined with CREATE REFLECT EMPOWER (CRE) Outreach. CRE Outreach empowers disabled individuals through performing arts. In 2016 and February of 2017, Laurie was instrumental in co-producing two separate sold-out, highly-regarded shows in Los Angeles, featuring an entire cast of musicians and actors with disabilities.
Laurie has also enjoyed a successful career for over 20 years as a music educator, working with people of all ages and abilities in piano, theory, composition, and songwriting at her own studio.
